Dear Wordpress (pt. I)

August 15, 2008

I happened to start following a convention to capitalise my category names (e.g. Design, Links) and lower-case all my tags (e.g. typography, wordpress, adobe). It seems to be the case that this isn’t really possible in WP 2.6.

It took me a wee while to realise it, but when I renamed my category “design” to “Design”, the “design” tag would also become capitalised. What the turnip?

I’m not sure if this is documented at all, or even if it’s come up in forums. This is my first point of ventilation so I’ll have to update with progress… Let the research begin!

I think there is a feature in general settings where you can allow/disallow category titles to be included in the tag list. So added ‘Design’ as a page may have overwritten the lower case ‘design’ tag in the process.

Not sure if that makes sense.

Also I think Thesis has a similar built in feature due to the fact that you can allow categories or tags to be added to keywords or used as page names, which are usually all capitalised in Thesis.
