In Leaked Olympus E-P1 Micro Four Thirds compact has us hot, bothered, Engadget has pumped out some possible specs on a camera which interests me – a lot. Judging by the pics it’s exactly the kind of expensive plastic I’d like to have in my sweaty man-hands when I don’t feel like lugging my DSLR around. Having said that, this piece is packing a “DSLR-sized sensor” and several lenses becoming available. At launch a 14-42mm will be available. Not sure what SLR-like capabilities it’s going to have yet.
I’d still love a nice Leica to play with but they’ve always been a bit too pricey for a non-SLR. This unfortunately doesn’t seem to be much different, clocking in at an expected $900USD.
Have you some pics in the meantime (thanks to the afore-linked Engadget post)!

I sure would love to get a brand new cam! But I am here on your fabulous website because you use a theme that I am seriously considering switching to, and that is Thesis. What a sharp, fantastic layout. And congratulations on being show-cased by Thesis!
Thanks! Yeah the pricetag is insane, and I’m not even sure they’re around here in Australia…
A beautiful looking and elegant web site, and like Farnoosh above, I came to it through my interest in Thesis, which I only discovered today. I only heard of WordPress two weeks ago.
I’m particularly taken by the fine lines (rules) which seem to be wherever you want them. As far as I can see this is not an option in Thesis and you would have to hand code them in CSS as borders on top or bottom only. Would you mind commenting?
In case it helps, http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/olympusep1/ as a 39 page review of the Olympus P1 with sample photos and movies taken with the camera. I was about to write that in regard to your mention of Leica, I’ve never seen a Leica which doesn’t have a viewfinder (the Olympus P1 retro design reminded me of a Leica rangefinder) when I realised that last year I bought one, when I was becoming totally frustrated by the delay in the coming of the Panasonic DMC Lumix LX3 to Melbourne.
Thanks for the kind words! I’m going to be revising the layout a bit in the coming weeks, I still haven’t gotten around to installing the latest Thesis release…
Nearly all of the custom design elements came from a custom CSS file. You should be able to gleen what I’ve done from my custom.css file. Feel free to have a poke around :)
Thanks also for pointing out the Olympus P1. This is what I’m after – something that I don’t have to lug around like my DSLR+Lenses, but is capable and tote-friendly. Maybe even something that looks smashing all the while :)
